8 Easy Ways to Drink More Water Daily
One of the easiest ways to live a healthier and more energized life is by drinking more water. It will better your skin, cut down your sugar intake, and make you feel like a million bucks! But, with all the dangerously delicious beverage choices out there – I’m looking at you, coffee – it can sometimes be difficult to choose H2O over more flavorful choices. Today, I’m sharing a few helpful tips on how I get myself to drink more water throughout the day.
Consider the Benefits
The consumption of water is proven to lead to many health benefits. I, for one, have water to thank for clearing my skin and lessening my headaches. It can also promote weight loss (from cutting out sugary alternatives) and a greater sense of well-being. Seriously, Google “benefits of drinking water,” and I’m sure you’ll be convinced!
Invest in a Cute Water Bottle
Let’s face it: when you buy something cute at Target, you can’t wait to put it to use! So, invest in a cute tumbler to kick start your new habit. S’well has a collection of bottles with adorable prints; I’ve seen bacon and eggs, donuts, crabs, squirrels, and more! If you like the idea of a visual reminder, Blogilates sells bottles with time marks that let you know how much water you should be drinking throughout the day.
I always try to go for the largest sized water bottle. My current one holds 30 oz of water! I do this for a few reasons. First, I’m flat out lazy. The more water I have on hand, the fewer trips to the sink I have to make throughout the day! Second, doesn’t it sound easier to drink 2 full bottles rather than eight 8 oz glasses a day? This trick makes drinking more water so much easier for me!
Have a Water Bottle at All of Your Spaces
If you have water everywhere you go, you never have an excuse not to drink it. I have separate water bottles for home, work, and the gym. They never leave their designated space! This way, I have water within an arm’s reach.
Sometimes, drinking a beverage with no flavor can get a little boring. Cucumber and lemon is my absolute favorite combo! Rumor has it, this combo flushes toxins from the body and can lead to a flatter belly. I tried it at the spa once and, now, that’s what it reminds me of. Every time I drink it, I feel more relaxed. Some other popular combos include raspberries and lime, blueberries and strawberries, and grapefruit.
No Soda Before Lunch
I can’t begin to describe how hard I cringe when I see people drinking soda at 10 AM. Force yourself to drink nothing but water before lunchtime (tea counts, in my opinion!). Water is proven to make you feel more awake when consumed straight away in the morning. Plus, it gets you nice and hydrated for the day and cuts out so much unnecessary sugar from your diet!
Ask for it at Restaurants
The best thing about water is that, at most restaurants in the U.S., it’s free. Save a few bucks by ordering a glass of H2O instead of that $3 soda that you might not even finish.
When all else fails, set reminders for yourself. I’ve known people to set alarms on their phones or track consumption in their day planners. I personally love the idea of writing times on my water bottle. That way, I’d have a visual reminder that shows when I should have consumed so the appropriate amount of water for the day.
