My Winter Reading List

My Winter Reading List |

Big Little Lies | This book is the inspiration for a new series coming to HBO, starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley. I saw the trailer a few days ago and I immediately went to pick it up. It’s about 3 different women who are each facing a transitional in life. Scandals, lies, and a mysterious death fuel the plot of this novel.

The Ship of Brides | I got this book as a gift for my birthday in August, but I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. It’s about a ship of war brides en route to England after World War II. Inevitably, the women’s lives begin to intertwine with naval officers aboard the ship. It sounds like a classic wartime romance. I loved Me Before You and The Girl You Left Behind, so I hope this one is similar.

Wild | I have to admit, after watching A Year in the Life, my interest in this book was piqued. The author tells about her experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, a journey she took in order to find herself after suffering loss after loss. I’ve listened to lots of podcasts with Cheryl Stayed and she seems so wise!

The Universe Has Your Back Gabby Bernstein is another author I’ve discovered through podcasts. I think her story is very inspiring. Her latest book is about finding happiness and clarity in life so that you can stop worrying and start living.

20 Something, 20 Everything | I’ve been looking for a book to help me get through this whole “lost and searching” dilemma that I’m currently facing. While perusing Amazon, I stumbled upon this book. It’s filled with stories and exercises to help twenty-somethings find direction. God knows I could use a little bit of guidance right about now.

Scrappy Little Nobody | I absolutely love Anna Kendrick, so when I heard she was writing a book, I knew I had to read it. It’s a collection of essays that take readers through her childhood, discovering her knack for performing, leading up to the present. Anna’s writing voice is so sarcastic and quirky. I love this book already.

What’s on your winter reading list?

  • Anna Kendrick’s book is on my Xmas list! Love her. I wasn’t a big fan of Wild, so I’ll be interested to hear what you think about it.

    • Emily

Oh, I’m interested to head you didn’t like Wild. May I ask why?

  • Love anything by Jojo Moyes- need to check this one out! And I saw the commercial for Big Little Lies, totally didn’t know it was based off a book, I need to grab this one too!

    Thanks for all the recommendations!

    xx, Jamie

The last several months I have really enjoyed reading non-fiction books and 20 Something and Scrappy Little Nobody sound very interesting. Even though I am far from a 20 something, I still find myself searching. Gabrielle Bernstein has been on my list for a while as well. Thank you for sharing!

    • Emily
