About

Welcome to one fine morning

I’m Emily

I once stumbled upon a quote from Cheryl Strayed that said, “The useless days will add up to something. The shitty waitressing jobs. The hours writing in your journal. The long meandering walks. The hours reading poetry and story collections and novels and dead people’s diaries and wondering about sex and God and whether you should shave under your arms or not. These things are your becoming.” I haven’t been able to get this quote out of my head since the moment I read it.

Sometimes, life can feel like a mess. It can be confusing and strange and crippling. Yet, at the same time, it can feel beautiful and mystifying and joyful. It took me a long time to figure out how to live in a world where all these feelings coexist. Heck, I’m still trying to figure it out. But, you know what? I bet you are, too.

For so long, I felt alone in the struggle. It seemed like everyone around me had it all figured out while I was stumbling along. Slowly, I started to realize that it’s completely normal to feel lost. In fact, being lost might even be the cool place to be.

When you are lost, you find yourself in the position for massive growth. When you use that position to your advantage, you thrive.

Own your becoming

One Fine Morning is a blog for young women navigating their becoming. Join me to learn about ways we can explore our twenties with grace and confidence.

A little more about me:

  • I grew up in Wisconsin, where I met my high school sweetheart. We recently moved to New Mexico and we absolutely love life in the southwest!
  • I was a high school Language Arts teacher for nearly 2 years before I decided to transition out of teaching. (I profoundly respect teachers; they are true warriors.) Now, I work in marketing. However, my ultimate goal is to own my own business someday.
  • A few things that make my heart sing include practicing photography, traveling, puppies (all dogs, really), hiking, and trivia nights. Also, I can never say no to pizza or coffee.

Please say hello!

I’d absolutely love to get to know you! Feel welcome to shoot me a message by completing the contact form below.
